1. Information you give us
- Account details: your email address, a handle, a display name, and an optional pen name and tagline. We store your password only as a one-way Argon2id hash, never as plain text.
- Your content: the works, parts, images and other material you publish, plus the reader activity you create on the Service (kept works, private shelves, reading progress, highlights and notes). Your library is private to you; writers do not see your keeps, shelves or progress.
- Messages to us: anything you send to our support address, including email-verification deliveries.
2. Information we collect automatically
- Technical and security data: your IP address, browser or app type, request identifiers and timestamps. We use these to keep the Service secure, to limit abuse and rate-limit requests, and to diagnose faults.
- Cookies: a small number of strictly necessary cookies. See our Cookie Policy for details.
3. Payment information
Payments are handled by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number. We do store payment records (such as the amount, currency, status and provider reference) and the entitlements they create, so we can unlock content and pay creators.
4. How we use information
- To create and secure your account, and to sign you in.
- To deliver the content you read and to record your library, progress, highlights and notes.
- To process payments, unlock paid content, and pay creators.
- To prevent fraud, abuse and unauthorised access.
- To send transactional email, such as verifying your address.
- To respond to support requests and to comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your content or reading activity to run advertising.
5. Who we share it with
We use service providers that process data on our behalf:
- Supabase — database hosting.
- Google Cloud — application (backend) hosting.
- Cloudflare — domain, content delivery and protection.
- Stripe — payment processing and payouts.
- GoDaddy — email delivery for our transactional messages.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and security of ArtiStanza and its users.
6. Retention
We keep your account and content for as long as your account exists. If you close your account, it enters a 30-day grace period in which you can cancel. After that period we remove your personal details from active use, disable sign-in, and replace your author name with the neutral name “A former writer”. Works and books you published stay available under that neutral attribution unless you deleted them first. Limited copies may remain in backups for a period, and we keep records we are required to retain (for example, payment and tax records). Security logs are kept for a limited period.
7. Your choices and rights
You can access and update your profile in your account, and download a copy of your data from account settings. You can also delete your account yourself from account settings. Deletion has a 30-day grace period; after it ends, your personal details and sign-in are removed, while works you published stay online under the neutral name “A former writer”. To ask for a copy of your data, or to correct it, email us at the address below. We will respond within a reasonable time and may ask you to verify your identity first.
8. Security
We protect data with measures including hashed passwords (Argon2id), encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), and httpOnly session cookies. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children
The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If we learn that a child under 13 has created an account, we will delete it. A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided us information should contact us.
10. International transfers
Our providers may store and process data in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on our providers’ safeguards for these transfers.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, give notice on the Service.
